MTV Italia sarà l'unica televisione italiana che trasmetterà l'omaggio al compleanno di Nelson Mandela. La rete musicale avrà infatti l'esclusiva del concerto The 46664 Concert Honouring Nelson Mandela at 90 del 27 giugno.

La rete avrà infatti l'esclusiva del concerto The 46664 Concert Honouring Nelson Mandela at 90 che si terrà il prossimo 27 giugno a Londra. Tra i nomi che si esibiranno ad Hyde Park Amy Winehouse, Eminem, Leona Lewis, Duffy, Queen + Paul Rodgers, Annie Lennox, The Sugababes, Keane, Simple Minds, Bee Gees, Dame Shirley Bassey, Andrea e Sharon Corr, Jerry Dammers e Razorlight.


Il nome 46664 deriva dal numero da carcerato che aveva Mr. Nelson Mandela nella prigione di Robben Island. Era il prigioniero numero 466, incarcerato nel 1964. Al tempo della scarcerazione di Mandela nel 1990 in Sud Africa c'erano 120.000 persone sieropositive. Oggi il numero di sudafricani che ha contratto l'AIDS supera i 5.5 milioni. Ispirato dalla visione e dalla leadership di Nelson Mandela, 46664 è la risposta africana al problema dell'HIV, un invito per tutto il mondo a continuare la battaglia per sconfiggere il virus.

Questa canzone è stata scritta nel 2004 per il concerto del 46664 organizzato dai Queen e Nelson Mandela, concerto di beneficenza per la lotta contro l'AIDS e per la fame nel Sud Africa. La canzone è anche nota perché cantata in versione acustica da Roger Taylor durante il Queen + Paul Rodgers Tour 2005, il tour dei Queen organizzato con Paul Rodgers nel 2005 e 2006. La canzone compare anche in Return of the Champions.
